Emacs' ability to use any directory as the home for launching it allows us to
try out Spacemacs (or any other Emacs configuration we desire) without having to go
through the trouble of backing up our =~/.emacs.d= directory and then cloning the new
configuration. This can be achieved easily using the following steps:
