gcc-12 can issue `-Warray-bounds` warnings for code inlined from system
headers, and warns about `std::sort()` on a small array (
<https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=107986> split from
<https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=104165>). Per a comment
in a related Fedora report
<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2051783#c3>, and local
testing, adding an explicit unreachable on the impossible case that the
end iterator exceeds the end of the array will discourage gcc from
warning without needing to disable -Warray-bounds.
This failure was previously observed in early testing with gcc-12, and
was set aside in the hope that gcc-12 would be fixed before it came into
widespread use. That has not happened, and JoeNotCharles reported
<2644e0cb93>
this independently. JoeNotCharles proposed disabling the warning for
the call to `std::sort`. This commit instead leaves the warning
enabled, but encourages gcc to see that the bad path is impossible,
allowing gcc to delete the bad path before the warning is issued.
OS X still uses clang-14, which lacks sufficient std::ranges support for
recent Rebirth changes.
- Rewrite uses of std::ranges::SYMBOL to ranges::SYMBOL
- Add a stub header that, on gcc, provides for each SYMBOL a statement
`using std::ranges::SYMBOL;`, to delegate back to the standard library
implementation.
- On clang, define a minimal implementation of the required symbols,
without constraint enforcement. Compile-testing with gcc will catch
constraint violations.
Once OS X clang ships a standard library with the required features,
this stub header will be removed and the uses changed back to their full
names.
VR requires glDrawBuffer, which Mesa OpenGL ES does not offer. Default
VR to disabled for OpenGL ES users. Users who want to try it anyway can
still set use_stereo_render=1 in the SCons environment.
Adjust code_window_point to use the same masks as clipping_code.
Previously, it had top and bottom swapped. However, since its output
was only ever compared for equality to 0, this transposition should not
affect the observable behavior.
Iterating over it returns each side number in turn. This allows
converting many loops of the form:

for (int i = 0; i < MAX_SIDES_PER_SEGMENT; ++i)
```
to the compact form:
```
for (const auto i : MAX_SIDES_PER_SEGMENT)
```
The compact form brings the usual benefit of range-based for: delegating
iteration to the compiler prevents the loop body from skipping a step,
and makes clear in the code that this is the case.
A robot that is rendered may be woken later, subject to some conditions.
Move the easily checked conditions into the renderer, so that robots
which will not be woken are never recorded.
Note since ogl_stereo_frame() is only ever called once per ogl_start_frame()..
ogl_end_frame() instance, only the active stereo eye view needs to be handled.
Implies that separate left/right viewport/transform caches are redundant.
Enable stereo mode when launched via -gl_stereo option.
GL_STEREO quad buffering may not be available unless OGL layer
supports stereo pixel format descriptors.
Half-height viewport rendering for above/below format.
Half-width viewport rendering for side/by/side formats.
HUD & cockpit elements disabled when stereo views active.
OGL layer used for rendering surfaces, so using left/right viewports absent stereo quad buffers.
Using legacy Descent +/- eye offset method for left/right stereo perspective rendering passes.

61f186bc18 tightened type checking for
texture values, and fixed all affected sites in the OpenGL build. The
SDL-only build had additional code paths that were not noticed or fixed.
This commit fixes those paths.
