Upstream has released updates that appear to apply and compile correctly.
This update has not been tested by PaperMC and as with ANY update, please do your own testing

Subject: [PATCH] Add support for hex color codes in console
Converts upstream's hex color code legacy format into actual hex color codes in the console.
